Hanni Goldfarb is a Hebrew language educator and instructional leader with 20 years of experience in Jewish day schools, higher education, and professional learning. Hanni has built her career around a conviction that Hebrew is a bridge to Jewish identity, history, and Israel, paired with a scholarly interest in how social relationships shape language learning.
Hanni served as Head of the Hebrew Department at Gindi Maimonides Academy in Los Angeles, where she taught 6th–8th grade Hebrew and led a full instructional transformation of the K–8 program grounded in research-based approaches to language acquisition. She coached Hebrew educators and led professional development across multiple Jewish day schools, taught a teacher credentialing course at Hebraica University in Mexico City, and supervised MA practicum candidates as an Assistant Professor at Middlebury College’s School of Hebrew. She also founded the Hebrew Teachers’ Club of Los Angeles, a professional network for Hebrew educators that grew citywide and inspired similar communities in New York and Washington, D.C.
Hanni holds an M.A. in Teaching Hebrew as a Second Language from Middlebury College and a B.S. in Education and Jewish Philosophy from Tel Aviv University. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Middlebury’s School of Hebrew, researching the relationship between social capital and Hebrew language acquisition among Jewish adolescents in North American high schools.
Hanni is excited to bring her experience and research to Hebrew at the Center, helping Jewish day schools nationwide grow and strengthen their Hebrew programs.
Hanni lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Oren, and their two children. When she’s not working or learning, Hanni loves exploring the outdoors with her family.
