When we think about teaching/learning an additional language, we usually refer to cognitive activities such as memorizing and retrieving vocabulary or the ability to understand written or spoken text. However, learning an additional language is a complex process that involves the cognitive, social, and emotional development of learners. In this workshop, we will review key principles of child development related to language acquisition, identify common challenges, and discuss differentiated teaching strategies that can enhance the learning experience for each student.
