Evelyn Katz is a passionate advocate for Israel and Judaism in the greater Miami area and throughout the diaspora. She is a dedicated and generous supporter of Jewish causes. Evelyn currently serves or has served on the Board for the Greater Miami RASG Hebrew Academy (as Chair), Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education, Jewish School Leadership Enterprise (JSLE), Momentum, and Friends of the IDF Miami Chapter (as Chair). In addition, Evelyn and her spouse Shmuel have been key supporters of Stand with Us, The Lookstein Center at Bar Ilan University, the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature (in memory of her father), and Prizmah. She believes a strong, knowledgeable Jewish diaspora is paramount to supporting a Jewish State in the land of Israel. The Evelyn & Dr. Shmuel Katz Education Center is located in the heart of Jerusalem as part of StandWithUs to help connect visitors, tourists, and Jews to Israel. In 2018, Evelyn and Dr. Shmuel both received a Doctorate Honoris Causa from Bar-Ilan University in honor of their dedication to Israel and education.


Evelyn was born in Bogota, Columbia and is a polyglot, speaking German, Spanish, English, some French, and Hebrew. She graduated from University of Pennsylvania. She and her spouse, Dr. Shmuel Katz, live in Bal Harbour, Florida.  are blessed with three children and 9 grandchildren.

Evelyn has shared that she views Hebrew as “…the gateway to our culture and our heritage.”
