Welcome to the Hebrew at the Center Member Zone, a benefit of the Hebrew at the Center membership program and designed to provide support to Hebrew teachers and leaders in HATC’s member schools. As members, you are eligible for benefits such as:

  1. Meetings and discussions about topics relevant to Hebrew teaching professionals.
  2. A private WhatsApp group which allows for direct access to experts in the field.
  3. Access to recorded lectures and to pedagogical and learning materials, as well as access to the private Member Zone website.

The topics of each session will be determined by you, and are for you. Please let us know in the Whatsapp group, email to your HATC coach, or by emailing estyg@hebreatthecenter.org.

 Each session is 60 minutes, 8-9pm EST.

  1. Tuesday, March 8th, 8:00-9:00pm EST – Hebrew Educator Learning Circle Workshop #4: Teaching Hebrew in the Classroom: Pedagogical Principles; with Dr. Yona Gilead, Senior Lecturer at the School of Languages and Cultures at the University of Sydney. Click here to register.
  2. Monday, March 14, 1-2 EDT – HATC and Prizmah are hosting a Complimentary Session Responding to Hebrew Language Staffing Challenges to help day school leaders find qualified Hebrew teachers. Three of our field partners, including Edu-Together, WZO’s Morim Shlichim, and Talent-Educators will share how they can bring teachers to your school, either in person or virtually.   3. Sunday, April 3rd, 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM EDT – Hitkadmut: The Annual Hebrew Educators Conference התקדמות: כנס העברית השנת  . Join Hebrew teachers, Hebrew leaders, and other school leaders for an intensive, virtual conference on Sunday, April 3, 11:30 – 3:30 EDT. With a keynote plenary with Professor Stephen Krashen, four professional tracks with excellent workshops from a wide range of leaders in the field of language education, and the opportunity to gather, this is a must attend event. Participants from Membership Schools pay $29 rather than $39 for the four-hour intensive. Click here to register.  
  4. Tuesday, April 26, noon-1pm (EST). In partnership with Hebrew College, Lori B. Sagarin, and Tal Gale from HATC will address the challenges and opportunities of teaching Hebrew in Supplementary Schools with school leaders and share resources to bring more intentional Hebrew into the classroom or Zoom room. You will leave this session with ideas you and your teachers can implement immediately. Click here to register for this complimentary session on Tuesday, April 26, 2022, noon – 1 PM EDT

  5. The New Hebrew Teacher Boot Camp מכינה למורים חדשים  provides practical preparation for teachers’ first days at school and helps build a community of educators to share ideas, engage in team collaboration, and offer support and encouragement in the classroom. This three-day intensive workshop is designed for beginning Hebrew teachers or teachers early in their career who are interested in the Proficiency Approach Dates are Tuesday, Aug. 2 to Thursday. August 4, 2022, 11:30 AM – 5 PM EST. Cost is $749 for the entire course and 10% discount for HATC or Prizmah members. Click here to register.
