Last year we learned from dozens of educators and industry professionals, who presented insightful material for four different tracks of audiences: Novice teachers, veteran teachers, Hebrew leaders and heads of school.

בשנה שעברה למדנו מעשרות מחנכות ואנשי מקצוע מתחום הוראת העברית, שהציגו לארבעה קהלים במסלולים שונים: מורים מתחילים, מורים ותיקים, מנהיגים לעברית וראשי בתי ספר.

The theme of November’s conference is “Hebrew: The Force that Connects Am Yisrael”

This year’s theme – Hebrew: The Force that Connects Am Yisrael – reminds us that Hebrew is not only a language but also a force (עוצמה) that has always empowered and identified the Jewish people, known also as the Hebrews. Hebrew is the language we selected for the Bible, the collection that captures our people’s history, religious philosophy, and guide to building a just society – and the prophet Ezekiel envisioned a return to our land and history with the revitalization and return of our bones (עצמות).

Hebrew continued as our shared inheritance and common language of Jews throughout the past two thousand years as we awaited our return to sovereignty and celebrate our independence (עצמאות). Hebrew was central to the Zionist enterprise, envisioned as shifting from Sfat Am to Sfat em, the primary language of the Jewish state.

Today, Hebrew retains the power to help Jews throughout the world connect with Israel, Israelis, and Israeli culture, a powerful point of access and attachment fundamental to linking a collective past with a shared destiny.

The Hitkadmut conference will provide Hebrew teachers, leaders, and school administrators with new ways to leverage the power of Hebrew to meet the challenges and opportunities of this unique moment in Jewish time.

“השפה העברית – העוצמה שמחברת את עם ישראל”

נושא הכנס השנה, ״השפה העברית: העוצמה שמחברת את עם ישראל״, מזכיר לנו כי העברית אינה רק שפה, אלא גם כוח שמעצים ומזהה את העם היהודי, הידוע גם בשמו העם העברי. העברית היא השפה בה בחרנו עבור התנ”ך, אסופה המקבצת את ההיסטוריה של עמנו, הפילוסופיה הדתית שלנו, והמדריך לבניית חברה צודקת – ובו הנביא יחזקאל חזה את חזרתנו לארצנו ולהיסטוריה שלנו עם תחיית עצמותינו.

העברית הייתה למורשתנו ולשפה המשותפת של היהודים לאורך אלפיים שנות גלות בהן חיכינו לשוב אל ריבונותנו ולחגוג את עצמאותנו. השפה העברית הייתה עמוד התווך של המפעל הציוני, עם חזון להופכה משפת העם לשפת האם של כל יהודי ויהודיה במדינה היהודית.

כיום, העברית מחזיקה בכוח לסייע ליהודים ברחבי העולם להתחבר אל ישראל, לישראלים ולתרבות הישראלית. השפה העברית מהווה נקודת גישה וחיבור עוצמתית, מהותית לקשירת עברינו הקולקטיבי עם גורלינו המשותף.

כנס התקדמות יספק למורים.ות, למנהיגים.ות ולמנהלי ומנהלות בתי ספר כלים חדשים למינוף כוחה של העברית לצורך עמידה באתגרים ובהזדמנויות של הרגע הייחודי הזה בתולדות העם היהודי.

Learn from Brilliant Scholars

Our list of presenters and speakers is beginning to grow, and we’re excited to welcome Gil Hovav as one of our keynote speakers! Gil Hovav, Israel’s leading culinary journalist and television personality, comes from one of the most respected lineages in the Jewish world: he is the great-grandson of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, the reviver of the Hebrew language; the grandson of Itamar Ben-Avi, who began modern Hebrew journalism; and the son of Moshe & Drora Hovav, “founding members” of Israel’s modern day public radio.

Gil himself, with his illustrious career in journalism, publishing, television and as an author, has played a major role in the revival of Israeli cuisine and the change Israel has undergone in recent years, from a country of basic traditional foods into a “gourmet nation”.

גיל עצמו, עם הקריירה המפוארת שלו בעיתונות, בהוצאה לאור, בטלוויזיה וכסופר, מילא תפקיד מרכזי בהחייאת המטבח הישראלי ובשינוי שעברה ישראל בשנים האחרונות, מארץ של מאכלים מסורתיים בסיסיים לאומה של “אוכל גורמה”.
